Paonta Sahib Gurudwara History
It is considered that Guru Gobind Singh Ji lived here for four years. The guru has written a major portion of the sacred book, the Dassam Granth here. There are lots of stories behind how Paonta Sahib was named. Paonta Sahib is derived from the word “Paonta” means Paon (foot) in Hindi. The place is named in reference to the ornament Guru Gobind Singh wore on his foot while bathing in the Yamuna River. Paonta Sahib Gurudwara is situated here in the memory of Guru Gobind Singh.
Apart from its spiritual importance, there are many other activities you can do in Paonta Sahib. Assam Lake offers facilities like rowing, paddling, boating, and sailing. Another attraction is Sahstradhara a sulfur water spring that is aesthetically pleasing. It is considered that its water has medicinal value that can clear all kinds of skin-related issues.
