The most important feature is the gold statue of Lord Buddha which is inside the main shrine. The monastery has beautiful wall paintings which display excellent Tibetan work. The spirituality, monks chanting the mantras, the aroma of incense sticks leaves an undeniable mark on the visitor’s mind.
There are two monasteries in Manali Gadhan Thekchoking Gompa and the Himalayan Nyingamapa Gompa. They are visited by a large number of tourists. There are several small shops surrounding monasteries. Selling beautiful handicrafts and carpets made by Tibetan people. To preserve ancient Tibetan art these Monasteries also run a Thanks School of Arts and a Carpet-weaving Center.
The paintings inside the monasteries depict the life of Buddha and the Kalachakra. Kalachakra means human life cycle, the wheel of life fixed on a wall. It is believed that rotating these wheels gives you salvation. The place glitters with electric bulbs when darkness sets in. With the fragrance of Tibetan incense enriching its peaceful ambiance.
